Forest adventures near Betws-y-Coed — high ropes, coaster rides and treetop experiences that are genuinely memorable. Perfect for families and couples who want a wow activity day.
Zip World Betws-y-Coed is a woodland adventure site in the heart of Snowdonia, set in forest above the village of Betws-y-Coed in the Conwy Valley -- about forty minutes from Llandudno. It is part of the Zip World group, which operates several adrenaline-focused attractions across North Wales, and it offers one of the most varied line-ups of outdoor activities in the region.
The centrepiece is the Fforest Coaster -- the only alpine coaster of its kind in Britain. Based on a traditional toboggan but running on rails through the trees, it covers a kilometre of track with 300 metres of ascent followed by 700 metres of twisting, turning descent at speeds of up to 25mph. You control your own speed with built-in brake levers, rides take around six minutes each, and each ticket includes three runs. It operates all year and in all weathers, and suits riders from age three upwards -- adults and children can share a sledge.
Beyond the Fforest Coaster, the site offers Treetop Nets (Europe longest net walkway, 18 metres above the ground), Zip Safari (a high ropes and zip wire course through the canopy for ages nine and over), Tree Hoppers (a gentler treetop course for younger children), Skyride (Europe highest giant swing, overlooking the Conwy Valley), and Plummet -- the world first tandem freefall experience, a 100-foot drop through a trap door. There is also a forest cafe on site.
Booking in advance is strongly recommended, particularly at weekends and during school holidays. Dogs are welcome on site.
